If you run a Client Portal, here's a small change that opens up a lot: your workflows can now fire the moment a member logs in.

Until now, the User login trigger only worked for older membership logins. If you were on the new Client Portal experience, there was no clean way to automate anything off someone signing in. That gap is now closed.

What landed

Two things, really.

First, logins from the new Client Portal now fire the same User login trigger that older membership logins always have. So you can send a welcome message, kick off a check-in sequence, or tag someone as active - all triggered by them simply logging in.

Second, there's now a dedicated Client Portal category in the trigger picker. Both of the triggers that belong to your portal now live together in one place:

• User login - moved over from Courses
• Client portal file uploaded - moved over from Membership

No more hunting through two different categories wondering which trigger does what. The helper text is clearer too, so it now spells out that User login covers both older membership logins and the new Client Portal experience.

How to set it up

If you want to build something new off a portal login, here's the quick path.

1. Open the Workflow Builder.
2. Click Add trigger and search for User login.
3. Select it under the new Client Portal category (it used to sit under Courses).
4. Save your workflow. It will now fire on both older membership logins and logins from the new Client Portal.

In the screenshot below, you'll see the User login trigger sitting in its new Client Portal home in the picker.

Already using this trigger?

Then you don't need to touch a thing. Any workflow that already uses the User login trigger keeps running exactly as it is, and it will start picking up logins from the new Client Portal automatically. No reconfiguring, no rebuilding.
