Recover an expired domain yourself, no support ticket

June 23, 2026

A domain expiring is one of those things you don't think about until it bites. The site goes down, links stop working, and you're scrambling to work out what happened.

And the old fix meant raising a support ticket and waiting for someone to sort it. Not ideal when your site's offline.

Now you can recover an expired domain yourself, right where you manage it.

What you get

You've got more breathing room first. The normal renewal window now runs to 40 days instead of 28, so a lapsed domain stays an easy renewal for longer.

After that, between day 41 and 70, the domain goes into what's called the redemption period. Instead of a dead end, you now get a Recover Your Domain flow. It works out the fees, takes the payment, and recovers the domain in one place. You do it yourself, in minutes, instead of waiting on a ticket.

When your domain's down, every hour matters. Waiting on support while your site sits offline is exactly the kind of stuck that shouldn't happen to your own business.

This hands you the controls. A clear path to get your domain back, at the point you most need it, without leaving the product or relying on anyone else.

How to turn it on

Open Domain Settings and click Recover on the expired domain. The system checks where it's at and sends you to the right flow automatically. Nothing to set up.

A couple of honest notes. The fees you pay are the registry's standard rate, with nothing added on top. Past day 70, or if the domain's already been fully released, recovery moves out of your hands and you'll need support - and a few endings like .co and .uk can be stricter. So if a domain's lapsed, sooner is always better.

Got a domain sitting expired? Open Domain Settings and check the Recover option now, while it's still in your hands.
