Clients Now Get Notified the Moment You Share a File in the Client Portal
You upload a contract, an invoice or an important document to a client's portal, and then... you wait. Did they see it? Do you need to send a follow-up email nudging them to log in and check?
That guessing game is over. When you share a file with a contact through the Client Portal, they're now notified the moment it lands.
What you get
The second you share a file, your client gets an in-app notification letting them know a new document is waiting for them. If they've got push notifications turned on, it reaches them on the mobile app too.
So the documents you send actually get seen - no chasing, no wondering, no important file sitting unread for a week.
Your clients stay in control as well. They can decide whether they want these notifications and switch them on or off from their own portal settings.
How to share a file with a contact
Sharing works the way it always has, with one small step that triggers the notification.
- Go to the contact you want to share with.
- Open the Files section from the right-side panel.
- Upload or select the file you want to send.
- Turn on the Upload to Client Portal option.
- Save.
That's it. As soon as it's saved, your client gets an in-app notification and, if they've enabled it, a push notification on the mobile app.

How your clients manage their notifications
Your clients don't have to do anything to start receiving these, but if they ever want to adjust them, it's simple. You can pass this along to anyone who asks.
- Log in to the Client Portal.
- Go to Settings, then Notification Preferences.
- Switch in-app and push notifications on or off.
- Save.
In the screenshot below, you'll see where those preferences live.

This works across both the web portal and the mobile app, so wherever your clients are, the notification finds them.
It's a small change that takes the guesswork out of sharing documents. Next time you send a contract or invoice, you'll know it's landed.
